Using the Library

About My Library

My Library is like your own personal online library. It can be accessed from a computer, smartphone, or cell phone. You can use library services such as placing holds on books or renewing books, without having to physically visit the Kindai University libraries.
There are other services you can register for on the My Library page; for example, you can be alerted when new materials arrive based on your pre-determined keywords, and you can register for websites of your areas of interest, such as databases and electronic journals.

My Library Services

Service Details
View due dates, make renewals You can view what materials you currently have checked out, and their due date. You can also renew materials as long as you do it before their due date.
View checkout and return history View your checkout and return history for your entire university career. To find information older than six months, search using checkout dates or return dates.
Place and view holds Holds can only be placed on books that are currently checked out.
Ordering from another Kindai library You can send for books from another Kindai library and check them out at another Kindai library (Central Library, Faculty of Agriculture Library, or Faculty of Medicine Library).
Request materials or photocopies of materials from other libraries, view your requests You can send for photocopies and books at other universities, other institutions, and other campus libraries of Kindai University.
Requesting the purchase of books May not be available depending on the person's affiliation. Note that books purchased will become part of the library collection, so in some cases requested books cannot be purchased.
Register and unregister for due date notifications May not be available depending on the person's affiliation. Notification emails are automatically sent three days before a book's due date. Requires registration.
New material arrival alerts You will receive an alert upon arrival of books or journals that match your pre-determined keywords. Requires registration.
Subject gateway (list of databases) Choose from a list of databases depending on your theme or purpose. You can register for databases that you use often.
Use OPAC on My Library There are benefits to using My Library to access the OPAC library search system. For example, it's easier to place holds, and there are personalized services such as saving search histories.
Bookmark function You can bookmark My Library OPAC search results, electronic journals and databases, and websites.
Change library password Note that you cannot change the password that goes with your academic user ID.

Who Can Use My Library

Persons affiliated with Kindai University, or anyone holding a library card from Kindai University's Central Library, Faculty of Agriculture Library, Faculty of Medicine Library, Faculty of Engineering Library, Faculty of Humanity-Oriented Science and Engineering Library, or Kindai University Kyushu Junior College Library.
Note that general public registered library users cannot use My Library.

My Library ID and Password

Affiliation How to log on
Undergraduate students, graduate students, and Correspondence Division students of the Higashiosaka Campus, Nara Campus, Hiroshima Campus, and Fukuoka Campus (full-time students and part-time students) Type in the academic user ID and password you were given by the university.
Persons other than those specified above Apply to use My Library at the Central Library, Faculty of Agriculture Library, Faculty of Medicine Library, Faculty of Engineering Library, Faculty of Humanity-Oriented Science and Engineering Library, or Kindai University Kyushu Junior College Library. Then type in the user ID and password you were given.

Use of Your Personal Information

Kindai University will only use personal information related to My Library for purposes such as confirming your registration details and getting in contact with you.
